Hibberdene is considered the gateway to the South Coast of Kwazulu Natal. It is a small seaside town situated 97 km south of Durban, halfway between Scottburgh and Port Shepstone. It was named after C. Maxwell-Hibberd, the former postmaster-general of Natal. Hibberdene Beach has been nominated as one of the 5 Blue Flag Beaches on the KZN South Coast.
